modernmomi began as Leche Mum in 2023 and came into our hands in mid-2024. At the time, I was a working mum of two, juggling the demands of retail with the desire to be more present for my family. Like many parents, I craved more balance—more time for the moments that matter. Taking on this online business was a step toward that balance, and it has allowed me to grow a career while still putting my family first.
The original name, Leche Mum, carried a beautiful meaning—leche, the Spanish word for milk, symbolised nourishment, while mum stood for love, care, and connection. That foundation continues to inspire us.
In 2025, we rebranded to modernmomi to reflect a broader vision: to support today’s mothers—who are strong, evolving, and many things at once. While our heart still lies in celebrating breastfeeding and the early days of motherhood, modernmomi speaks to the full experience of being a mum in today’s world—messy, magical, and deeply meaningful.
